Kanazawa University established the Kanazawa University Miyamoto Award to recognize researchers who have made outstanding achievements in the fields of social science related to finance, local government, and the environment, with the aim of contributing to society and to the further development of academic research in Japan.
The Miyamoto Award is funded by a donation from Mr. Kenichi Miyamoto, an honorary doctor of Kanazawa University and a graduate of the former the Fourth Higher School, one of the predecessor schools of Kanazawa University. Mr. Miyamoto taught at Kanazawa University, Osaka City University, and Ritsumeikan University, and then served as a President at Shiga University. He has always been at the forefront of research in a wide range of fields, including public finance, regional economics, self-government, and environmental economics, and has not only achieved the highest achievements in each field, but has also provided valuable theoretical guidance for many civic activities that address pollution problems and urban development.
In order to pay tribute to Mr. Miyamoto and to contribute to the further development of research and civic activities in these fields, we are now accepting applications for the "2nd Kanazawa University Miyamoto Award."
